Juan Raigoza will bring to office the strong work ethic and institutional knowledge that has guided him throughout his career.
Juan and his family immigrated to California when he was a child. From an early age, Juan knew what it took to succeed. Juan worked both during high school and college to supplement the cost of education – taking both night and weekend shifts at a local produce warehouse – while studying accounting and finance. He holds both a Bachelor’s Degree and MBA from California State University – Chico, where he was elected a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi for his good character and scholarship.
Juan has lived and breathed the work of the County Controller’s Office for the past thirteen years. Prior to his time in public service, he served as a tax auditor for the California Franchise Tax Board, and as a consultant for two Big Four accounting firms. In the San Mateo County Controller’s Office, he’s led both the Payroll and Information Systems Divisions, and has served as a Senior Internal Auditor, all prior to his current role as Assistant County Controller.
Juan has served the County for well over a decade now, and intends to bring this experience and expertise to the Controller’s Office. He wants increased transparency for taxpayers, enhanced safeguards for the County’s assets, and intends to complete implementation of the new Payroll HR system for employees across the County.
Juan and his wife, Donna, live in Redwood City with their rescue dog Marmie and two cats. When not at the Controller’s Office, he enjoys camping and cycling.
